Pack smart, not heavy. The essential gear checklist for high-altitude trekking in Nepal.
Packing well makes or breaks a long trek. Here's what experienced trekkers carry.
Layers
- Moisture-wicking base layers
- Insulating fleece or down jacket
- Waterproof shell jacket and trousers
Footwear
- Broken-in waterproof trekking boots
- Wool socks (and spares)
Essentials
- Sleeping bag rated to −10°C
- Headlamp, sunglasses, sunscreen
- Water purification and a reusable bottle
- Personal first-aid kit and any medication
Tip: most teahouses rent down jackets and sleeping bags if you'd rather travel light.
